11, 12, 13 november 2016 / Maastricht
On 11, 12 and 13 November 2016 CoMAMaastricht (Contemporary Music for All) and Ensemble 88 are organising the festival ‘Finnissy for All’ to celebrate the 5th anniversary of CoMAMaastricht and the 70th birthday of Michael Finnissy.
The festival aims at providing young professional (student) composers the opportunity to develop their skills in ‘open-score’ composing. This means that the compositions are suitable to play with every mixture of instruments (so called flexible ensemble) and with instrumentalist of varying playing abilities.
The masterclasses will be given by Michael Finnissy during the festival on Friday the 11th and Saturday the 12th of November 2016. During the masterclasses ‘open-score’ work will be discussed and commented on and Ensemble 88 will play (parts of) the compositions. There are ten places available. The participation fee for the masterclasses will be € 50.
